We like the way short, stubby wine glasses add a note of nonchalance to a supper celebration. The squat stem glass is more casual and downplayed than their lengthened, more vulnerable equivalents. Case in point: At a recent supper party, I served drinks in low-to-the-table glasses. I discovered that guests seemed unusually at ease. Perhaps it was the glass, or possibly it was the white wine, however I’m persuaded that much shorter is better.
