From the Architect:”3 long concrete walls of differing heights form the method to this retreat. A narrow gap between the walls reveals the entrance. Beyond this threshold, the spaces organize the living areas according to a versatile layout and timber structure. “The customers, a number of friends, had an implicit instruction:
to share an area without being obliged to ‘cohabit’in every respect. The articulation of the architectural volumes thus creates a meandering sequence of areas that gradually reveal the whole, making sure a specific visual intimacy and a fragmentation of the acoustic environment. A sign of the times, the cooking area is the space that opens completely onto the landscape: a meeting place, both for the couple and their visitors, and metaphorically, with the surrounding natural environment.” Get the Dwell Newsletter Be the first to see our most current home trips, design news, and more.Subscribe < img alt="Two Buddies Build a Quebec Retreat Where They Do Not Need To See Each Other-Picture 3 of 13-"height="2000" src="https://images2.dwell.com/photos/6818593201364905984/7469470663187906560/original.jpg?auto=format&q=35&w=160" width="3000 "/ >
