The ZIIN Beijing Shop, developed by atelier tao+c, reinterprets a previous fabric storage facility from the 1960s within the Langyuan Station cultural district as a contemporary retail and exhibition environment. The project presents a new architectural structure inside the historical industrial shell, establishing a layered spatial system that moderates between the existing brick structure and the brand-new commercial program. 2 square structural frames rotated at forty 5 degrees form an unique “house within a house” configuration that organizes circulation and display areas while maintaining a visual dialogue with the warehouse envelope. Transparent polycarbonate panels and timber surface areas differentiate the overlapping volumes, permitting natural light to move through the interior and emphasize the depth of the spatial structure.
