Hey there,
I am beginning building on a new home this spring. The majority of my strategies remain in location however I simply realized that the steel board and batten siding I plan to utilize, is created to be completely supported at the bottom of each area and the clips that hold it to the wall leave it drifting. I have crafted plans for ISO clips that attach horizontal metal girts (every 4ft) over my 8 ″ of outside rockwool insulation to hold this weight. This siding however, needs all weight supported at the bottom where it would rest on a drip flashing.I have asked
the provider if they have any recommendations however being uncommonly thick outside insulation I’m uncertain I will get much of a response back. I want to consider all choices before picking one.I would likewise like to have a service in mind before I ask my engineer to figure it out, as they likely have not dealt with this before. Specifically considering they didn’t already spec the assistances based on the siding I defined.

In my mind the most likely way to continue is with 12-16 ″ spaced ISO clips (over the rim boards) instead of 32 ″ spacing like in other places. With a heavier girt along the bottom of each run of vertical siding that supports the drip flashing which returns to the sheathing. We are likewise thinking about attempting to do some areas in a stucco surface, or something else various, to break up the board and batten.I’m likewise looking for concepts for this that might be attached to my horizontal metal girts, preferably similar weight to the metal siding.

Thanks for any recommendations you have for me!Gerry
