We dream in hotels, jet-lagged, suspended between time zones, held in transient convenience. What if our dreams weren’t simply nighttime illusions, however plans for a much better world?
Throughout Milan Style Week 2026, designboom explore the ME Milan Il Duca hotel with ROOM FOR DREAMS, a site-specific takeover changing the iconic Aldo Rossi-designed hotel into an immersive laboratory for imaginative hope. Through a series of large-scale setups, a devoted movie theater area, live talks, workshops and social encounters, the job interrogates the state of dreaming as a tool for architectural and social improvement.
our space FOR DREAMS place: the renowned Aldo Rossi-designed ME Milan Il Duca ROOM FOR DREAMS: A MULTILAYERED TAKEOVER The task unfolds throughout the hotel’s public spaces, including a curated selection of designers, cross-disciplinary developers, and brand name partners that come together to build a multi-layered, sensory exploration of dreams as style tools. In partnership with SolidNature, Ressence, La Marzocco, Oppo, and INDX|GLOBAL, designboom produces a layered landscape for visitors to experience live programs alongside interactive installations that form an immersive cultural platform.
The cinema space is formed in cooperation with Paris-based PAF Atelier: a spatial system developed as a journey through layers of the unconscious, where architecture guides the visitor through shifting dream states. Through abstract, symbolic kinds, the project materializes the elusive systems of dreaming, proposing a utopian reinterpretation of reality formed by image and sensation.
