Images: ATRIUM Garage for Car Collection, Russia The Garage for Automobile Collection by ATRIUM, finished in 2024, redefines the architectural typology of the personal garage.

More than a storage center, the building operates as a curated gallery, fitness area, and place for organization events– all combined within a single, fluid type that responds to its forested setting. Located on a wooded plot, the 200-square-meter structure is the current addition to a personal estate originally established by ATRIUM in the early 2000s, which includes a modern manor and visitor home. The new garage continues this architectural family tree while introducing contemporary spatial methods and product expression.

This continuous gesture organizes the program: at ground level, it confines a glazed exhibition space for the auto collection; along its length, it frames entryway and

rear terraces; and as it ascends diagonally, it leads to a roof outside exercise zone. Listed below ground, the volume extends into a fitness center and workplace, with natural light drawn in through discreet ground-level apertures. Large glazed facades with ultra-thin profiles on the north and south dissolve the boundary between interior and landscape, strengthening the project’s integration with nature. The seamless white Corian envelope articulates the automobile style metaphor, evoking aerodynamic surfaces and precision engineering, while interior accents in wood and copper introduce warmth and tactility. Functionally, the garage runs as a multi-layered civic item within a personal domain. The ground flooring serves as a luminescent gallery for vehicles, straight available from the driveway. The upper terrace supports exercise, while the below ground level accommodates wellness and administrative functions. Circulation between these layers is instinctive and experiential, guided by the building’s sculptural reasoning. Developed with minimal site interruption, the task exemplifies a delicate approach to development in environmentally important areas. Its compact footprint, underground growth, and tree-preserving layout demonstrate how architecture can exist side-by-side with mature forest without compromise. ATRIUM’s sculptural gallery-garage, set within a forest reserve, has actually been chosen as a finalist of the World Architecture Celebration 2025 in two categories: Completed Buildings– Transport and the Small Task Prize.
