Like lots of studios in Paris, this 248-square-foot attic was, at one point in time, a series of house maid’s rooms– though very little remains of this apartment or condo’s past life, other than for the breathtaking view of the Saint-Sulpice Church, a renowned landmark of the sixth arrondissement. Previously separated by a landing, the house required a unifying renovation– and a new restroom. “Before, it was very dark,” Baptiste Legué of architecture studio ABL states of the space. He credits an ingenious option of products, intriguing textures, and a thoughtful new layouts for the finished item: a sophisticated Parisian pied-à-terre.

The bed incorporates a bench, developing a

relaxing sitting area with a view of the

Saint-Sulpice Church. Clever touches As soon as Legué’s plan was finalized and all the missing out on amenities– like a correct restroom, and a different toilet– were added, the next obstacle was to create as much storage as possible. This is where the attic revealed its strengths. “We created a system to use the low-ceilinged space under the roof,” Legué states. “It allowed us to incorporate lots of storage, in addition to the house’s service components.” (This consists of a walk-in closet, washing maker, and other features that might be considered a high-end).

From there, Legué developed the sleeping space, which sits on a raised platform that integrates a bench for amusing guests. On the other side, the cooking area also has an integrated bench next to the window, and a bar where meals can be delighted in. “Whatever is compact, but it has all the essential functions,” says Legué of the home. Lastly, the restroom is tucked behind the bedroom, with an opening cut into the partition wall to let natural light reach the shower.
