Over 8,000 artifacts, files, books, and photos conveying the history of the disability rights motion are at the Museum of Disability History at the Viscardi Center on Long Island, New York City. For now the space functions as “a precursor for the disability neighborhood’s vision for a massive, first-rate museum presence” on the National Shopping Center in Washington, D.C.

. An exhibit curated by Ignacio G. Galan and Jordan Whitewood-Neal, and created by Joel Sanders Designer (JSA)/ MIXdesign, is now open at the Museum of Impairment History, a 4,500-square-foot gallery located within the recently finished Kornreich Institute for Impairment Studies designed by Allied Works.

Previously, the Museum of Special needs History was based in Buffalo, New York, where it was established in 1998. The inaugural exhibit at the museum’s new space in Albertson, which debuted in February, is titled Websites of US Impairment History.
