The architecture inverts the typical order of domestic area: nature is not developed as a framed view, but as an existence to be inhabited. The project proposes a way of living in which the user experiences the condition of being outdoors even from within, developing a direct and constant relationship with the natural environment. This method responds to Carazo Arquitectura’s biophilic design approach, which incorporates climate, landscape, and sensory experience as structural elements of the task.

At the heart of your home is an interior garden that is not ornamental, however structural. This space controls cross ventilation, filters natural light, and develops gradients of personal privacy. The yard organizes the architectural plan and gives rhythm to daily life, functioning concurrently as threshold and destination. Nature does not accompany the space; it orders it.< img src= "https://www.e-architect.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/casa-chavarria-puntarenas-province-costa-rica-c230326-c-267x400.webp"alt="Casa Chavarria Puntarenas Province Costa Rica real estate"width="267"height ="400"/ > The indoor– outdoor combination is developed through passive methods intrinsic to tropical architecture. Generous overhangs protect from solar radiation and rain; operable glazing encourages continuous air blood circulation; and a permeable envelope allows breeze, light, and plant life to move through the architecture. The primary element is a handmade ventilated terracotta brick façade, which establishes a permeable boundary between public and personal, filtering light and strengthening environmental comfort without counting on mechanical systems.
Your home reveals itself through a sequence of progressive boundaries– from open to included, from shared to intimate– where concrete, teak wood, and modular systems reveal a truthful materiality consistent with the context.

At Casa Chavarría, biophilia is not an aesthetic device but an integral method.”Getting in to be outdoors “implies occupying breathing walls, where nature arranges, aerates, and softens the living space. The project demonstrates that easy, sincere architecture can be deeply innovative when grounded in an understanding of climate, area, and human experience.
