On the outskirts of Barcelona, Nave en La Pau is a 1,476-square-foot unit in a storage facility that was formerly a printing home. Juan Agustin Iglesias looked for to convert the area into a home and workplace on a super-limited spending plan of about $38 per square foot, for a total cost listed below $200,000. He commissioned regional atelier Atienza Maure, established in 2018 by Alonso Atienza Sánchez and Miguel Ángel Maure Blesa, for the task. The duo reacted to the job’s industrial site, and the resulting job celebrates the rough and all set. It mostly consists of premade elements that were imported and assembled on website by the client and his bro.
Located on the 4th flooring in between celebration walls, the task includes windows along the north and south facades. No new exterior openings were permitted, so to maximize daytime in the area, Atienza Mazure kept an open floorplan. Rather of walls, the home and workplace are separated by wood boxes. A 1-story platform, circled around by soft drapes, functions as a primary bedroom. It links to the close-by 2-story structure, composed of galvanized L-profile racks, post-tensioned steel trays (which likewise double as storage), birch plywood cladding, and clear polycarbonate windows. This volume acts as a visitor bedroom or studio.
