
The concept of home transcends types. A home is a space to feel safe, belong, and find sanctuary from the outdoors world, reflecting a profound more-than-human phenomenon. For birds that constantly move, the significance of home modifications with the landscape. Sometimes it is survival, often convenience and security, and in some cases familial growth. All this boils down to one exhibit, Home Sugary food Home (beginning with 11 March to 25 April), at MAD Brussels 2026. It reimagines birdhouses through lively design and emotional strength, exploring the significance of home as more than a concrete structure.
The exhibit is curated by Zurich-based Connie Husser, an interior stylist and owner of ‘Item With Love.’ This enjoyable job unites over 75 Belgian and global designers to showcase their take on traditional. The birdhouses might be unique in style, however not in their state of mind, which includes care, appeal, and living for both human beings and nature. The exhibit represents that coexistence is possible when love and compassion are included.
Demonstrating the love in her development, Kajsa Willner is amongst the diverse group of exhibitors who show their analyses of old-style birdhouses at the aforementioned exhibition. She hand-sculpted the entire structure utilizing reclaimed wood sourced from local carpenters. This instinctive usage of organic material gives each piece of wood the freedom to guide the type. So, rather of being structurally lined and precise, the birdhouse takes hints from the architecture of shelters that birds make in the wild. The structure’s eccentric unevenness makes this birdhouse special, psychological, and more linked to the elements of nature.
To make your house more suitabled for the birds, it is spray-painted in the marsh tit’s soft beige tone. The front panel of the birdhouse is crafted with shou sugi restriction and completed in a shiny black, mimicking the bird’s own black crown. Kajsa employs her multidisciplinary identity by decorating the birdhouse with tin shapes of insects, worms, and flies, which the marsh tit feeds upon the most throughout summer season.
With Entita Birdhouse, she checks out the uncharted areas of product use, style, type, and color, strengthening the idea of the birdhouse as both a practical and spirited structure and a home. She encourages introspection amongst people about what it indicates to cohabit. Not every human intervention is devastating; often it could imply lending a hand from one types to another.
