This is a home building created for a multi-generational household. Due to the climate of northern China, this house embraces a shy style method, with a central light well arranging the household area. Outside windows on various facades, along with large and small skylights develop a soft, pleasant interior light experience. The floor plan is derived from the traditional nine-square grid. This standard form consists of closely related and independent components, which can well complete the ritual shift from public activity space to personal residence. The spatial pattern of the nine-square grid is also extremely constant with the Chinese cultural understanding of home and living space.
