the Architect:”Originally built
in 1869 as a Pub, referred to as The Moore Park Hotel, it was transformed in 1921to a fruit and vegetable shop with upper level lodging and in the 1960s to a corner grocery store, which it remained up until 2022. The quick was to convert the three-story structure to a single three-bedroom home. Found in a Heritage Conservation Area, the local Council desired all new work to be clearly diļ¬erentiated from the initial structure. “A brand-new three-story, steel framed rear wing has been constructed, clad in
clear glass blocks. This brand-new rear wing abuts the original exterior however is set back a little to clearly articulate brand-new from old. In order to allow natural light and ventilation to the lower level living locations, an internal courtyard has been cut through the initial area of the structure with a new steel and wood stair increasing along with the yard to the upper level bed room and a large roof terrace set behind the original parapet. New oak floor covering is utilized throughout the upper levels, with terrazzo tiles for the lower level living areas, terraces, and restrooms. Oak veneer is used for the kitchen area joinery and the bathrooms are lined in colorback glass. “Your home in not air conditioned and counts on natural cross ventilation and ceiling fans, sun shading to all doors and windows, heavily insulated roofing system and walls, photovoltaic panels, electric heatpump hot water, LED lighting, all electrical appliances, and electric heatpump hydronic underfloor heating and radiators.”
