Among the things Chelsea Lipham treasured about her home in Portland, Maine, was how lovely its tree-filled lot was. What she didn’t look after, however, was the confined interior of her 100-year-old duplex. “I was feeling sort of claustrophobic,” states Chelsea, who is a registered designer. She pictured an open, airy area with much better views of the canopy around her– something that was more like the cabin in the woods she grew up in.
