The Getty Center is embarking on the most “considerable series of modernization efforts” considering that the Richard Meier– designed Los Angeles campus opened in 1997, the organization shared just recently in a declaration.
A remodelling architect hasn’t been called. The modernization initiative is approximated to cost between $600 and $800 million.
The Getty’s tram system will be upgraded in order to manage more passenger volume and make the school more accessible, as part of the modernization program.
The tram system historically has had low passenger volume, and the Getty Center has actually long been slammed for being inaccessible from the rest of Los Angeles, given its seclusion on a remote hilltop, something the effort intends to counteract.
