
Hong Kong-based startup Cozytime first captured our attention at CES 2026, where it debuted a barbecuing and roasting gadget called Cozytime LUMO. Simply months after being showcased at the annual technology trade show in Las Vegas, Cozytime launched the LUMO barbecue grill on Kickstarter, where it soared past its modest Kickstarter objective, drawing in more than $184,000 from 500+ backers in less than a week.
With over 40 days left in the project, we anticipate LUMO to exceed $500,000. But what makes LUMO such a fan favourite among barbecuing lovers? The answer depends on the procedure it utilizes to cook. Unlike standard grills that produce considerable smoke, Cozytime LUMO boasts a countertop device style that uses far-infrared heat to cook food.
Sarang Sheth at Yanko Style, who saw the device on the CES floor, notes that the “gadget utilizes far-infrared light focused through four accuracy reflectors to develop 360-degree heat protection.” This obviously fixes the biggest problem of indoor grilling (setting off smoke detector) while formulating to 4 times faster than conventional approaches.
The business claims the system reaches running temperature level in 0.2 seconds, formulate to 4 times faster than standard grills, and hits an optimum of 1800 watts while securing juices. “Because the side-mounted infrared elements never touch leaking fat, smoke is practically eliminated,” the business informs.
On the style front, the unit shifts between 3 configurations: Indoor Smoker Mode, Fast Grill Mode, and Flat Grill Mode. In Indoor Cigarette Smoker Mode, an enclosed chamber flows the fragrance without releasing visible smoke into the kitchen area. In Fast Grill Mode, a semi-open lid focuses heat to sear meat quickly, locking in juices for steakhouse-style weeknight suppers. Finally, we have the Flat Grill Mode, which opens the grill 180 degrees to produce a flat surface, ideal for indoor BBQs, huge breakfasts, or combined plates. Another highlight of the LUMO is its AI CookPilot system. The device comes geared up with two built-in cams and sensors that scan a steak, salmon fillet, and even a pizza, immediately identifying type, thickness, surface area, temperature level, and weight. “The cams also assist spot different types of food and assistance automatic cooking changes based on our exclusive innovation,” the company notifies.
Shipments are slated for July 2026. Early-bird backers can secure the LUMO for about $300, approximately 40 percent off the planned $500 list price. Whether the device lives up to the buzz will be clear once units reach kitchens this summer season, but the early Kickstarter momentum suggests numerous home cooks are eager to discover.
