Artist Jisoo Yoo presents Dream Home, a participatory performance setup revealed as part of (F)ESTIVALES at Les Tanneries– Centre d’art contemporain in France. Welcoming members of the public to write and draw their dreams and wishes onto garments, the job transforms these personal expressions into the structural structure of a drifting home. Fluctuating in response to the collective contributions, the momentary architecture explores how individual desires come together to form– and constantly improve– the worlds we inhabit.
The project begins with a simple question. As Yoo describes, ‘how do the dreams and desires we carry shape the landscape of the world we occupy?’ While dreams often feel deeply personal, the artist argues that they are inseparable from the social conditions, values, absences, and possibilities that surround us. In Dream House, these personal reflections are transformed into a shared architectural experience, exposing how cumulative desires can for a short while bring a world into being.

Together, the garments support a suspended roofing system whose movement reacts to the collected presence of individuals’s desires, dreams, and requires. Instead of working as a static building, your home exists only through cumulative participation, appearing and vanishing as an ephemeral kind.
Built from individuals’s dreams, Dream House pictures architecture as something delicate, emotional, and constantly negotiated. The installation proposes that a home is not simply constructed from physical materials, but from shared aspirations that need continuous care and participation to live.

By permitting the architecture to stay in constant motion, Dream House withstands permanence in favor of improvement, recommending that the worlds we inhabit are constantly formed– and improved– through our shared dreams.
